Thinking and Summary
In this project, I changed the script three times at first because I didn’t know how to better combine virtual animation and real film. A lot of time was wasted on the storyboard in the early stage. Finally, I decided to make a dream about a virtual character crossing into reality. In the UE5 part, I have always had a hard time controlling the material of the virtual space, because too single a material cannot reflect the illusion of the dream. I added a lot of self-luminous materials, and did not use atmospheric lighting, but let the objects emit light themselves to illuminate the environment. In the Footage part, my character has no material, and I did not render this part, because the script is a virtual character I made crossing into reality, and he is just a semi-finished product. In this part, I used nuke to track fixed points, but the displacement of the material I shot was not much, which made this aspect not obvious. At the same time, I used C4D and MAYA to simulate the animation of the character, and the combination of maya and nuke got the final picture.
In the subsequent graduation project, I think the content of my script should be clearer, because I am not sure that everyone understands the plot of this project. At the same time, I think the intention is not very profound, and it does not convey the content about the world view and values. In the animation part, I should try more possibilities, such as using other software like Houdini.
